Our World of Hope!
We envision a world where children affected by war are not forgotten—but instead, embraced by a global community of young people who see them, support them, and stand beside them.
Our World of Hope connects youth across borders to build bridges of compassion, empathy, and friendship with refugee children. Through shared humanity, we offer healing—not only for those displaced by war, but also for those who choose to care.
Our vision is rooted in the belief that dignity, respect, and understanding are universal values—and that hope is a right
Our World of Hope was founded in response to a simple but urgent question: What can young people do to help children living through war?
Moved by the stories of children displaced by conflict in Ukraine and Gaza, our founder, Matthew Bartel—himself a high school student—launched the organization to offer not just aid, but human connection. What began as a letter-writing campaign grew into a global nonprofit uniting youth across continents.
Since our founding, we’ve expanded our work to include peer-to-peer friendship programs, care initiatives, and youth-driven advocacy in Sudan, and we are actively building capacity to reach children in Myanmar, Ethiopia, and the Congo.
We don’t just send help—we send hope.
Through thousands of hours of service and solidarity, Our World of Hope has:
And perhaps most powerfully, we’ve created a sense of shared purpose among young people worldwide—proving that compassion knows no borders.
At Our World of Hope, our mission is to bring personal connection, comfort, and care to children living through the trauma of war.
We serve the most vulnerable in conflict zones across the globe—offering not only essential aid, but also moments of joy, safety, and human connection. Through compassion-driven outreach and sustained presence, we strive to restore hope, dignity, and healing to children caught in the darkest of circumstances.
Your support helps us bring light into the lives of children living through war.
Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, donor, or advocate, there’s a place for you in our circle of hope.
Matthew Bartel, founder and president of Our World of Hope
We invite you to write a message of hope, care, and human connection—in your own words—and email it to us. These messages are a powerful reminder to children living through war that they are not forgotten.
If there’s a country or region you feel especially connected to, or where you’d like your message to be sent, please let us know. We’ll make every effort to ensure it reaches a child affected by conflict in that area.
Your words can offer comfort, courage, and a sense of belonging to someone who needs it most.
